The ever-popular Erewash in Bloom gardening competition is back and will once again showcase the green-fingered skills that make the borough blooming marvellous

Erewash Borough Council’s annual competition is one of the largest in the East Midlands with 11 categories – with a special category added this year for the ‘Best Red White & Blue Display’ to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Residents, community groups, local businesses and schools are invited the take part, with categories including front and rear gardens, wildlife and environmental gardens and hanging baskets and planters.

The competition is now open and anyone in the borough can enter by submitting up to eight photographs using the online entry form.  Alternatively you can email your photos to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. – remember to include your name, address and a phone number and list which categories you would like to enter. Postal entries can also be sent to Erewash in Bloom, Merlin House, Merlin Way, Ilkeston, Derbyshire DE7 4RA.

Councillor Garry Hickton, Lead Member for Environment at Erewash Borough Council, says

“I can’t wait to see the entries in this year’s Erewash in Bloom gardening competition. There are always lots of great gardens and displays in the borough. I would encourage everyone in Erewash to get gardening and enter this competition, whether they have entered before or not.”

The closing date for entries is Monday 8th August 2022. Judging will take place in late August using the photos submitted, with winners announced in October. There are cash prizes, garden centre vouchers for winners of some categories, as well as trophies and certificates for others.
