Calling new traders

Erewash Borough council is always on the lookout for new traders so please contact our Markets Supervisor to see if we have an exciting opportunity for you! All other entrepreneurial traders will be considered for both markets.

What do I need to do to become a trader?

To stand on either Ilkeston or Long Eaton markets, you will need to seek the permission of the Erewash Markets Supervisor, who will assess your suitability to trade based upon several factors, such as whether or not you wish to sell a desired line. We are always wary of the fact that too many traders selling the same product can have a detrimental effect on the market as a whole, and wish to avoid such situations. Also, all traders are required to have £5million public liability insurance.

Traders who wish to sell food or drink items should email Erewash Borough Council's This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Once you have received permission from the Markets Supervisor and provided a copy of your public liability insurance, you can attend the market as a casual trader.

You will need to arrive between 8am and 9am on the morning you wish to trade, and see the Markets Supervisor. As both markets are now self-erect, you may be able to erect your own stall/gazebo.

Prices for trading

Prices for trading can vary depending on stall size and whether or not you are a regular trader. Please contact us for further information.
