The chosen design includes a wheelchair roundabout, toddler cradle swings and a multi-play tower.

The winning design for a new play area for Petersham Public Open Space on Briar Gate, Long Eaton can now be revealed.

Residents were asked to pick their favourite of two designs through a public consultation, and voted overwhelmingly for Option One, by Kompan UK.

The play area, funded by Erewash Borough Council, is set to be complete by the end of summer 2022. It will be fully accessible for all children across a wide age range and will include a wheelchair roundabout, toddler cradle swings and a multi-play tower.

Hundreds took part in the consultation, which included an online survey. Those consulted included people living closest to the site, local schools, community groups and councillors.

Councillor Paul Maginnis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Health and Wellbeing, says:

“I would like to thank everyone who took part in the consultation to choose a new play area for the Petersham site. The chosen design looks fantastic and I’m sure everyone in that area is as excited as I am to see what it looks like once complete.”
