Keen runners and fitness fans in the borough will be pleased with the news that the dates for the Erewash Half Marathon and Erewash Triathlon 2021 have been confirmed.

The events, organised by Stu Web in partnership with Erewash Borough Council, normally take place in August but have been postponed until October due to COVID-19.

The Half Marathon will now take place on Saturday October 9 with the Triathlon the following day on Sunday October 10. Those already entered will be contacted by Stu Web.

The half marathon starts at Langley Mill Canal Basin and takes runners along the Erewash Canal, finishing at West Park in Long Eaton.

The Erewash Triathlon is the ideal event for beginners and involves a 400m swim at West Park Leisure Centre pool, a 16km cycle through Long Eaton, followed by a 5km run around West Park. This year will also feature an Aqua Bike event for those who prefer not to do the run section.

Paul Maginnis, Lead member for Health and Wellbeing at Erewash Borough Council, says:

“Both of these are fantastic events for keen runners and those wanting to take part in their first triathlon. Last year’s events were cancelled due to COVID-19 so entrants finally get a chance to get stuck into training and enjoy taking part in sporting events in beautiful surroundings”

More information on the events can be found at erewashtri.com and erewashhalf.com. Entries for both events will reopen shortly.
