The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III ‘Coronation Big Lunch’ Street Party Grants 

Applications for grant funding are invited for events which will celebrate His Majesty King Charles III Coronation and are being held during the bank holiday weekend from Saturday 6 May to Monday 8 May 2023.   

How much can you apply for?

Subject to the availability of funding, applicants can apply for a grant of between £50 and £100. 

What can you spend the grant on? 

The grant may be used to fund: 

  • Food and non-alcoholic beverages;
  • Cost of advertising your street party to let residents of the street know about the event;
  • Equipment hire such as table and chair hire/ gazebo hire;
  • Decorations such as bunting;
  • Bouncy castle or games;
  • Entertainment;
  • Road closure signs (if needed);
  • Public liability insurance.

The grant cannot be used to fund: 

  • Alcohol;
  • Private parties in a resident’s garden;
  • Street parties that are not within the Erewash boundary.

Please note:

To guarantee applications being processed, they must be submitted by 5pm on March 24. Every attempt will be made to process applications received after this deadline but we cannot guarantee that orders will be issued. Any road closures needed will be free of charge.
  • Applicants must provide the council with a description of the road closure including which house number the closure starts from and finishes at on the street or road, the start time and duration of the closure and full details of a contact person for sending the road closure notices to.
  • The preferred method of submission of completed Road Closure Orders is by email. Alternatively, they can be submitted by post to: Democratic Services, Erewash Borough Council, Ilkeston Town Hall, Wharncliffe Road, Ilkeston, DE7 5RP.

Completed Road Closure Orders can also be handed in at either Ilkeston or Long Eaton Town Halls. Please note that both Town Halls are closed on Saturday and Sunday. 

Application process. 

  • Subject to funding remaining available, Street Party grant applications can be submitted until 5.00pm Friday 21 April 2023, please note late grant applications will not be accepted.

Alternatively postal applications can be sent to: Community Engagement Officer, Erewash Borough Council, Ilkeston Town Hall, and Wharncliffe Road, Ilkeston, DE7 5RP.
  • Applications can also be handed in at either Ilkeston or Long Eaton Town Halls. Please note that both Town Halls are closed on Saturday and Sunday.
  • All applicants will be notified of the receipt of their completed grant application form.
  • As completed application forms received by the council will be considered as final, applicants must ensure their application form contains as much detailed information as possible as the council is unable to enter into lengthy dialogue/discussions in respect of applications owing to time constraints to consider and award the grants.
  • All applicants will be notified of the Award Panel’s decision either by email or post. Please note decisions will not be provided verbally.

By applying for a Street Party grant, successful applicants agree to provide:

  • Copies of receipts as proof of purchase of goods funded by the grant.
  • The council with feedback on their event, such as approximately how many people took part and what activities were provided.

Once your application is completed. 

Erewash Borough Council will only use personal data for the provision of the Street Party grant or Road Closure Order. This information will not be processed in any other way or shared with any third party organisations. 

Publicity. 

The council would be very pleased to receive photographs of street parties which can be used as a historical recording and publicity to celebrate the event. Please note, should any submitted photographs contain images of children, the council must be provided with evidence showing parental consent for these photographs to be used.

Erewash Borough Council must be acknowledged as contributing funding towards the costs of the street on any printed material associated with events. Please note, the local press will be provided with a list of the locations all funded street parties and may visit unannounced for press coverage. 

Contingency Plans.

Applicants are reminded to be aware that as a Street Party grant may not cover the costs of all the items or activities listed in their application form, they may wish to consider having contingency plans. This could include locating items that can be borrowed or carrying out local fund raising.
