Skin Piercing
The following types of skin piercing treatments require registration:

Acupuncture

Cosmetic piercing/body piercing.

Electrolysis
-
Tattooing
-
Semi-permanent skin colouring.
To offer skin-piercing treatments both the person performing the treatment and the premises must be registered with Erewash Borough Council and meet the requirements of the council's skin piercing byelaws.

Processing timescale is 28 days from receipt of a valid application with payment of the fee.

Fees
Both the person and the premises must be registered. The fees are
- £255 if a person and premises registration are assessed at the same visit.
- £150 for a single registration for a person or a premises.
- £150 to add an additional skin piercing activity to a personal and/ or premises registration if this is not covered by the existing registration.
If the application is withdrawn by the applicant after submission a non-returnable minimum charge of £35 will be made to cover administration costs. No refund will be given once a visit has been made.
- £20 to change the premises address on an existing personal licence.
Will Tacit consent apply?
No. It is in the interest of public health that Erewash Borough Council must process your application before it can be granted. If you have not heard from the Council within a reasonable period, please contact us.

Consumer Complaints
We would always advise that in the event of a complaint the first contact is made with the trader by you - preferably in the form a letter (with proof of delivery). If that has not worked, if you are located in the UK, Consumer Direct will give you advice.
Massage and Special Treatment
These are premises, which provide a wide variety of treatments, the main ones being sauna, massage and sun beds. Erewash Borough Council does not licence these types of premises. However any premises undertaking any skin piercing activities must be registered.
