A Statement of Licensing Policy is required under the the Licensing Act 2003 and the current policy was formally adopted by the council on 17 December 2020.

Statement of Licensing Policy 2021-2026 (.docx, 296.33 KB). The Statement of Licensing Policy may also be viewed at the Town Halls at Long Eaton and Ilkeston.

The Licensing Act 2003 has established a single integrated scheme for licensing premises which are used for the retail or supply of alcohol, to provide regulated entertainment or to provide late night refreshment.

The Statement of Licensing Policy lays out the basis on which decisions will be made. This policy also sets the principles the licensing authority proposes to apply when exercising their functions under the Licensing Act 2003. Furthermore It must reflect the local balance between the commercial interests of the licensed trade and the communities they serve and affect.

This current Statement of Licensing Policy as adopted by the council is subject to review every 5 years under the Licensing Act 2003 as amended by the  Police and Social Responsibility Act 2011.
