Ilkeston charter fair
The 771st Ilkeston Charter Fair – one of the oldest and largest street fairs in Europe – returns this year on Wednesday 18 October –to Saturday 21 October 2023. Official opening Thursday 19th October.

Bonfire night
The spectacular event takes place on Saturday 4 November at West Park, Wilsthorpe Road, Long Eaton.

An adult ticket can be purchased for £10, and tickets for children aged 16 and under, and senior citizens (over 60), can be purchased for £7 – both offering savings of £2. There is also a family bundle which includes tickets for two adults and up to three children, costing £25. Tickets will be available to purchase from the town hall receptions from Monday 6 October. The advance online ticket prices will be available until 12 pm on the day of the event. After this time tickets will be charged at full price.
Parking and traffic
We expect there to be more traffic congestion than normal, particularly on Wilsthorpe Road, from approximately 4pm onwards. Please be aware that there will also be queuing on Wilsthorpe Road as people access West Park Leisure Centre car park and again when they leave the event. Please note that West Park Leisure Centre car park will be limited to 150 who have obtained a ticket online, and for disabled badge holders only; all other cars are expected to park at the other surrounding car parks.
Cones will be set up along Wilsthorpe Road between Thoresby Road and Parkside Avenue, and along Pennyfields Boulevard to discourage people from parking.
Event schedule
The event will start at 5pm, the bonfire will then be lit at 7pm and the firework display will start at 7.30pm. There will be other entertainment including a fun fair and stalls.
The event will end at 10pm.
