New Shop Signage Grant
We will be running our Shop Signage Grant Scheme again this year but opening it up to all businesses with ground floor premises within the town centre boundaries of Ilkeston and Long Eaton. In Ilkeston this covers Bath Street, Market Place, and South Street. In Long Eaton this covers High Street, Market Place, Tamworth Road (no further south than 49 Tamworth Road), and Derby Road (between Fletcher Street and Waverley Street only). See maps below.
The aim of the Grant is to support traders and businesses within Erewash and is one of a number of initiatives funded through the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The scheme will provide a boost to the local economy by providing grants of up to a maximum of £2,000 to eligible applicants for new signage.
More information can be found in this Applicant’s Guide and in the scheme's Terms and Conditions.
Shopfront Improvement Grant
This year the Council will also be running a complementary Shop Front Improvement Grant Scheme which aims to encourage owners or tenants of rundown premises in the town centres to clean, repair, or renovate their buildings so that they are less of an eyesore and contribute to the attractiveness of our town centres. You can apply for £1,000 - £10,000 to carry out works such as graffiti removal, repairing brickwork or rendering, re-painting, replacing windows, and clearing guttering.
Does your building need a facelift? You may be eligible if:
- You are an owner and/or business occupying a ground floor unit in the town centre of Ilkeston or Long Eaton. In Ilkeston this covers Bath Street, Market Place, and South Street. In Long Eaton this covers High Street, Market Place, Tamworth Road (no further south than Broad Street), and Derby Road (between Fletcher Street and Waverley Street only). See maps below.
- You can provide 20% match-funding for the works. Start-ups and social enterprises are not required to provide match-funding.
More information can be found in this Applicant’s Guide and in the scheme's Terms and Conditions.
