Families are being encouraged to bring their favourite soft toys, pack a picnic, and get ready to blast off into summer with joy, laughter, and a sprinkle of sparkle at the museum on Saturday 26 July.

It’s set to be a free, fun-filled day for all ages with plenty to see and do. The entertainment includes games, glitter tattoos, bubble fun and Super Sparkle’s enchanting show "Earth Calling Bear-stronaut!" which has been billed as “a must-see adventure for all little explorers and their cuddly companions.” There will also be charming teddy bear stations with a Bear Hospital, a best dressed bear competition and the chance to adopt a bear!

After the launch of the beach, visitors will find a programme packed with activities - including bear inspired craft workshops - at the museum every Wednesday throughout the summer holiday until 27 August.

Deputy Leader of Erewash Borough Council, Cllr Becca Everett who is Lead Member for Community Engagement shared her excitement: “We can’t wait to see everyone come together and celebrate the start of summer at the museum. The annual beach is always a huge hit and is just one of the many engaging experiences Erewash Museum creates for visitors of all ages. We’re truly proud of how our museum has become a community hub for people to enjoy.”

Erewash Museum welcomes some 20,000 people a year. It is normally open from 11am to 4pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays – and is free to visit. During school holidays it also opens on Wednesdays. Refreshments are available at its Dalby House Café.
