Funding roadshow for community heroes

The event aims to explain “fast funding” of up to £1,500 that is available for volunteer groups and other public-spirited initiatives. The council is also keen to trumpet a second scheme – called Member Grants – that it has launched to run in tandem. These are worth up to £3,500.
The “Meet the Funders” roadshow on Tuesday 16 September has been organised by Erewash Voluntary Action at its hub in Long Eaton’s Granville Avenue.
Council experts will be on hand from 10am to 2pm to offer friendly advice – and there will be tea and coffee. Erewash’s Deputy Leader Cllr Becca Everett, who is Lead Member for Community Engagement, said: “The kind of voluntary groups and community ventures we want to help are the lifeblood of the borough.
“Our fast funding grants have already boosted organisations ranging from sports clubs and walking groups to projects helping people struggling with the cost of living. Initiatives to help children – such as Cantelupe Pre-school – have also benefitted. Even the Scouts and Guides have received funding.
“Applications for the new Member Grants simply need an endorsement from an elected council representative. A recent example was August’s Glow Music and Art festival – which saw crowds flock to Ilkeston Market Place.”
The council will be among “several grant giving organisations” at the roadshow, according to Erewash Voluntary Action – which says charities, non-profit ventures and community interest companies are welcome to find out about funding.
Publicity for the event says: “No need to book – turn up any time.” For further details email enquiries@erewashcvs.org.uk or call 0115 946 6740.
