Bold as Brass proms are well worth trumpeting

This year’s calendar of free performances starts on 1 June and features a total of five concerts over three months.
All take place on Sundays apart from the finale, which will be at the Erewash Museum in Ilkeston on Saturday 16 August.
This is the full programme that has been unveiled by Erewash Borough Council:
Sunday 1 June: Ilkeston Brass Band, Victoria Park, Ilkeston, 2pm to 4pm.
Sunday 8 June: Long Eaton Silver Prize Band, West Park, Long Eaton, 2pm to 4pm.
Sunday 27 July: Ilkeston Brass Band, Victoria Park, Ilkeston. 6pm to 8pm.
Sunday 10 August: Beeston Big Band, West Park, Long Eaton. 2pm to 4pm.
Saturday 16 August: Beeston Big Band, Erewash Museum, Ilkeston. 1pm to 3pm.
The Erewash Museum is near Ilkeston Market Place and is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 4pm – with Wednesday openings during school holidays. Entry is free.
The borough council’s Deputy Leader Cllr Becca Everett, who is Lead Member for Community Engagement, said:
“Our annual Bold as Brass concerts are always hugely popular. There are few better ways to spend a relaxing summer afternoon or evening than listening to music in an idyllic setting. And of course, it is all completely free.”
