Your black bin is for general household waste.
We can collect:
- Household waste that cannot be recycled
- Pet and food pouches
- Vacuum hoover dust
- Food-soiled cardboard (like pizza and fast food boxes)
- Plastic film (like ready meal lids, cling film, plastic bags)
- Other plastic items like broken toys, plastic boxes, CD and DVD cases
- Polystyrene
- Disposable nappies
- Bagged pet waste
- Cold ash from fires, bagged and tied.
Please put your general rubbish in bags within your bin. This helps keep your bin clean.
What not to put in your black bin:
Do not put any of these items in your black bin:
- Waste that can be recycled: put this in your blue bin
- Batteries: take back to shops and supermarkets
- Electrical waste: take to the recycling centre or book a bulky collection
- Garden waste: we collect this through our paid for garden waste service
- Metal items like trays, pots & pans, cutlery, take to the recycling centre
- Hazardous waste like household chemicals and paint, take to recycling centre.
Bins must be out for collection by 7am on collection day. Place your bin at the edge of your property (where it joins the road) with the handle facing the road.
