Accessing Ilkeston Town Hall

The Town Hall is located at the top of Bath Street. The entrance is via a ramp on Wharncliffe Road. There is a bus stop right outside the front door and car parking is available at the rear of the Town Hall. The full address is Town Hall, Wharncliffe Road, llkeston, Derbyshire, DE7 5RP.

Parking

There is a public car park at the rear of the Town Hall (next to the cinema) which has disabled parking spaces.

The Town Hall has its own car park used by staff in the week and available to the public at weekends.  This car park also has disabled parking.  The route from the car park to the entrance is accessible to a wheelchair user with assistance.  Assistance may be required because there is a slope. 

The car park surface is tarmac.  Car park users do not have to cross a road when using the upper car park.  The car park does not have a height restriction barrier.  There is not a designated drop off point.

Access

Access to the town hall us at the front of the building and is via a ramp to the main doors. The ramp is 150cm wide (5ft) with hand rails on both sides
The doors are double width and  are automated and slide open.

Reception

The reception desk is 2m (6ft 6in) from the main entrance, with level access to reception. The reception desk is high but has a lowered section.  Lighting levels are bright. There is not a hearing assistance system.

Payments desk

The payments desk is 4m (13ft 1in) from the main entrance, with level access to reception.

Interview Rooms

Both Interview rooms are 5m (16ft 5in) from the main entrance. The interview rooms have two chairs and there is space for a wheel chair. Please note these are not currently in use in line with social distancing guidelines.

Computers

There are computers to the right of the main entrance

These machines are on a desk 70cm (2ft 3in) high but none of the machines have speaker functions.

Adapted Toilet

There are adapted toilets designated for public use and include baby changing facilities.

Additional Information:

  • Documents can be requested in different formats such as large print.
  • Registered assistance dogs are welcomed.
  • A member of staff trained in British Sign Language skills is not generally on duty.
