...driving for success
We are responsible for compiling the electoral register for Erewash as well as organising all elections within the borough, such as the election of borough councillors, parish councillors, county councillors, MPs and MEPs and administering referendums and mayoral elections.
We have 51 councillors who represent particular areas known as wards. There are currently 22 wards returning one, two or three councillors, depending on the number of electors living in an area.
Elections to the borough council are held every four years and are normally combined with parish council elections. The last borough/parish elections were in May 2007. The next full council elections will be in May 2011.
County council elections are held every four years. The next county council elections will be held in 2013.
Parliamentary elections are held every five years, but an election can be called any time before the five year term is complete. The last parliamentary election was held on May 6 2010.
European parliamentary elections are held every five years. The Borough of Erewash comes under the East Midlands region. The next European elections will be held in 2014.
