Better ways to pay your Council Tax

The Council is now able to offer you a greater choice of where you can pay your Council Tax. Your new 2012/13 Council Tax bill will now come complete with a printed barcode which means that you will be able to pay your council tax at around 50 different PayPoint or Post Office outlets throughout the Borough.

As well as being conveniently located many of these outlets are open at weekends and into the evening. Find out more about better ways to pay and locate your nearest Post Offices and Paypoint outlets.

Lets Talk about Ilkeston and North

Residents are invited to attend the Ilkeston and North Community Forum, scheduled to take place on Wednesday 16th May 2012 at 7.00pm in the Main Auditorium, The Arena, Rutland Street, Ilkeston, DE7 8DG.

Following suggestions from residents during our recent Community Forums' review the meetings will now focus on a talk on a particular topic. The chosen subject for this meeting is 'What Erewash Borough Council will spend your money on' This discussion, led by Ian Sankey, the Director for Resources and Deputy Chief Executive of Erewash Borough Council, will explain how the council's budget for 2012-13 was set. Residents will have the opportunity to ask questions about this subject area.

If you would like to attend the meeting just turn up on the night. You don't need to book in advance. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served free of charge when you arrive.

If you are unable to attend the event you can e-mail or telephone Ian Marsden, Consultation Officer in advance of the meeting with any questions you may have and they will be raised on the evening. Ian can be contacted via Ian.Marsden@erewash.gov.uk or 0115 907 2244 extension 3684.

Following the presentation and questions there will be the opportunity to talk to representatives from Erewash Borough Council, Derbyshire Constabulary and Derbyshire County Council about any other relevant issues.

We hope you are able to come along and talk to us.

Nominate a site for a Jubilee Bench

Erewash Borough Council will celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by installing 60 benches as a long-lasting commemoration of the historic occasion.

Local residents can nominate a location for a Jubilee Bench within the borough, as the Council looks to site the celebration seats in places where as many people as possible will be able to use them.

Nominated sites should preferably be in public open spaces owned by Erewash Borough Council or Parish Councils in the borough. Residents are urged to make their suggestions by Thursday 31 May 2012. Erewash Borough Council cannot guarantee permission to site Jubilee Benches on land owned by other parties.

In selecting the final sites, the Council will consider various factors like how many residents would benefit from the location and how many seats are already in the area; if the bench adds value to a site, such as a play area, park or other amenity; if it would benefit vulnerable residents or people with disabilities and if the location is safe.

Download an electronic nomination form.

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Beacons - Monday 4th June 2012

We are actively encouraging Parish Councils within Erewash to celebrate this very special and rare occasion.

We are aiming for 6 beacons to be lit in Erewash and currently have 3 confirmed. If all authorities across Derbyshire achieve 6 beacons we will achieve the total of 54 beacons in Derbyshire.
