Guest speakers and signposting

Tai Chi for Arthritis
Experts believe that exercise and activity is an essential part of pain management. Not only does it keep your muscles strong and flexible, but it helps reduce anxiety, stress and depression.

Tai Chi for Arthritis incorporates exercises that improve muscular strength, flexibility and fitness. Reports of benefits include

 • Pain relief and less stiffness
Improved balance and less falls
Uplifting of the spirit and greater relaxation
Improved ability to do daily tasks
Improved muscle strength and joint flexibility
Enjoyment of tai chi practice

Gentle Walks
Once a month we go on a local short, gentle walk. The walks are planned with car parking, rest stops, toilets and a café for a much-deserved reward afterwards. All abilities are welcome including sufferers with walking aids and scooters. We go as fast as the slowest member of the group and it’s a great chance to be out in the fresh air, chat with friends and take notice of what’s around us. We reward ourselves afterwards with lunch at a local venue.

Lifestyle and Nutrition
Experts also believe it all starts in the gut and we are privileged to have our very own nutrition practitioner who delivers workshops that explains how our body reacts to food and stress and advises which food groups are best to eat and what we can do to improve our wellbeing, sleep and pain management.
