As part of the Armed Forces Covenant Erewash Borough Council has secured a bronze award as part of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS). The council signed up to the covenant in 2019 in support of the armed forces community and their families.

The ERS encourages employers to support the armed forces and help motivate other organisations to offer their backing. They offer bronze, silver and gold awards to organisations in both the private and public sectors.

Councillor John Sewell, Erewash Borough Council’s Armed Forces Champion, says:

“This is a fitting award and a proud moment for the council who support the values of the Armed Forces Covenant, making sure we help those who serve, or have served in the forces, and their families by providing access to key services such as housing, education and healthcare.”

Leader of Erewash Borough Council, Councillor Carol Hart, added:

“What a tremendous accolade for the council, we are proud to support the Armed Forces and will continue to show our respect for those who serve their country.”
