Erewash Borough Council will progress its submission to Government to secure funding for improvements to the Long Eaton High Street.

The Long Eaton Town Deal project aims to revitalise the commercial centre of Long Eaton through environmental and aesthetic improvements to increase footfall and support shops and services by making it a more welcoming high street. This would see improvements made along the High Street from Market Place to Cross Street/Main Road, as well as improvements to the environment along Market Place and Tamworth Road, between Oxford Street and Broad Street.

Council Executive endorsed the project summary and to claim the remainder of the £10,231,500 Towns Fund capital grant for the project at the March 21 meeting. ASummary Document will be submitted to government to claim the funding, with the project planned to be delivered by March 2026.

Councillor Bryn Lewis, Lead Member for Town Centres, says:

“Improving the offer for shops and services was identified through public engagement as the number one priority for Long Eaton and therefore an important project as part of the Long Eaton Town Deal. Of all of the Town Investment Plan interventions it is the Long Eaton High Street Project that has the greatest potential to address this.”

On July 7, 2021 council executive approved heads of terms with the government to deliver projects in the Long Eaton Town Investment Plan using the £24.8 million of Town Deal funding.
