Residents are being asked for their thoughts on how to use £34,000 of funding to improve facilities at Granby Park in Ilkeston.

Erewash Borough Council wants to use the moneypot to provide additional equipment at the site and wants local people to choose between two options – extra play pieces for children up to the age of 12 or the installation of outdoor gym equipment for people of all ages.

A short online survey is open until 5pm on 18 April. The survey result will be used for the next stage of drawing up designs to enable residents to choose their favourite option.

Councillor Paul Maginnis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Health and Wellbeing, says:

“We want local people to get involved from the start and so I encourage residents to take part in this consultation and tell us which of the two options they would like us to take forward.”

A further survey will take place later this year once design options have been drawn up when residents will be asked to choose their favourite, with the equipment scheduled to be installed next year.

The funding is thanks to Section 106 monies, contributions made by developers as part of planning agreements – in this case the recent housing developments on Cotmanhay Road, Ilkeston and on the former site of the Commercial Inn, Ilkeston.
