Residents will be able to banish the post-Christmas blues and step into some New Year fun at Erewash Museum this January with activities aimed at improving well-being.

There will be a number of events beginning on Thursday January 6 with an art and dance activity day. The hugely popular DJ Hazza will be there to plays tunes to get everyone dancing. The day then gets crafty with creative activities for the whole family to enjoy, including creative planning for the year and fun activities based on Five Ways to Wellbeing. Local artists and crafts people will also be holding fun activities for children and families. There is a charge of £2.50 per child and people are urged to book to avoid disappointment.

On Friday 7 January and Saturday 8 January people will be able to take part in activities themed on ideas of connecting, moving the body, volunteering, learning new skills and being mindful. A museum trail will also be part of the fun. The free activities take place between 11am-3pm.

Leader and Lead Member for Strategic Policy at Erewash Borough Council, Councillor Carol Hart, said:

“Everyone needs a lift after the rush and excitement of Christmas so this is a great event to welcome in the New Year at our award-winning Erewash Museum. Art activities have been shown to be an excellent influence on our mental health and a great way to think and reflect on our goals for the year.”
