Free lateral flow test kits are now available for any residents calling in to Ilkeston or Long Eaton Town Hall receptions.

The kits offer rapid tests for COVID-19 and are already available at various outlets – including some pharmacies and libraries and can be ordered online at www.gov.uk

Erewash Borough Council was keen to increase the availability of the kits for residents and has also joined forces with Derbyshire County Council to trial more support for local people who may have questions about the testing process.

The move means a public health officer from the county council will be based one day a week at both town halls (from 4 October week) to be able to advise and answer any queries from residents. The officer will be at Long Eaton on Mondays and at Ilkeston on Thursdays.

Councillor Carol Hart, Leader of Erewash Borough Council, says:

“We continue to do whatever we can to help the progress and fight against COVID-19. This is a small measure and visitors who need to come to our town halls will see the kits readily available. We are also pleased to be working with the county council to provide another advice service to support our residents.”
