Now’s the time to grab your chance and gain some extra cash, up to a maximum of £2,000, for voluntary groups or organisations, as the second round of funding from Erewash Borough Council’s Community Grant scheme is now open.

The popular scheme has already helped hundreds of worthy local groups and sporting organisations over the years and now it could be your turn to receive a cash lifeline! You can apply for a minimum of £500 up to £2,000 with the deadline being Sunday 31 October. The council is particularly keen to hear from those smaller groups and initiatives that are helping the local community.

Benefitting from the most recent round of grants this summer were 16 voluntary organisations including: Ilkeston’s Every One Eats; the 16th Ilkeston (St Johns) Scouts; Ilkeston’s Wild Bears Forest School; the 147th/3rd Ockbrook and Borrowash Scout Group; the Elephant Rooms in Draycott; St Hugh’s sensory garden project, Borrowash and Long Eaton Carnival Committee.
Also receiving grants were Long Eaton Swimming Club; Long Eaton’s Friendship Hub; an Enriching Communities music project in Kirk Hallam; and projects at Ilkeston’s Arena Church.

Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Community Engagement, Councillor Val Clare, says:

“Grants are awarded for many projects that help Erewash and in the past funds have been released to community groups, pre-school groups, churches, village halls and organisations that offer support in countless ways to both the young and old. Applying is easy and we will assist you with your application to make the process as simple as possible. Get your applications in now as funds are limited.”

The council also offer a small grants community chest scheme (worth up to a maximum of £500) which is ideal for small projects and or community groups who require a fast start-up support with applications being processed and assessed as and when received. These grants are available now until 20 December 2021, subject to the availability of funding.
