Six Balanceability courses for young children have been organised over the summer holidays by Erewash Borough Council’s Sport and Health Development team.

Balanceability is the UK’s first and only accredited ‘learn to cycle’ programme for children aged 2½ to 6 years old and aims to develop confidence, spatial awareness, balance and the skills to ride a bike without stabilisers.

The latest courses are:

23 and 24 July at Ashbrook Community Centre, Borrowash, 10am-12.30pm

17 and 18 August at Sandiacre Friesland Sports Centre, 10am-12.30pm

21 and 28 August at Abbotsford Community Centre MUGA, 10am-12.30pm

Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, says:

“Balanceability is a great programme and perfect starting point for children’s cycling. It’s fun, confidence boosting for them and promotes active lifestyles at the earliest possible age.”

There are only 12 places available on each course, so anyone interested is urged to book as early as possible. Email danny.whetton@erewash.gov.uk or call 0115 907 2244.
