Wartime songs, vintage vehicles and all things 1940s will once again be at the centre of celebrations when Erewash Museum hosts its annual Swing Back to the Forties day.

The event, one of the most popular in the museum’s calendar, is on Saturday 29 June and leading the nostalgic knees-up will be the Festival Swing Dance Society and entertainer Johnny Victory.

There will be a chance to view vehicles and military displays from the era while visitors will be able to sample some wartime refreshments at the museum’s Old Stables Tea Room.

Councillor Mike Wallis, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Culture and Leisure, says:

“The music and vehicles transform the museum and take you right back to the 1940s at this incredibly popular event. It’s always great to see so many Erewash residents, young and old, enjoying the style and times of that era.”

Admission for the event is free and runs from 10.30am-3.30pm. A remembrance ceremony in the museum gardens will close the event at 3.30pm.
