People will be able to have fun and get fit for free when a new outdoor table tennis table is installed in time for the summer at Victoria Park in Ilkeston.
The table will be installed near the children’s play area and will be free for anyone to use. Bats and balls will be available to borrow from the Barefeet in the Park kiosk, or people are welcome to use their own. A similar table tennis table was installed in West Park, Long Eaton last year and has proved popular with visitors of all ages.
Table tennis is becoming increasingly popular and has great health benefits. It can be enjoyed by people of all ages and fitness levels and when played regularly it improves reflexes, hand-eye coordination and balance, while toning and strengthening core muscles and helping to keep your heart strong and healthy.
Victoria Park is an award winning ‘Green Flag’ park and one of the most popular parks in the borough, having had many of its historic features restored. It also has a range of facilities including a children’s play area, bowling green, bandstand and café as well as ornate Victorian bedding schemes which have been reinstated in the floral garden.
