Erewash Borough Council continues to give support to local worthy causes via the Community Grants Scheme, which has seen 37 community and voluntary organisations helped thanks to winning a slice of £40,000 of funding over the last year.
One of this year’s recipients is the Friends of Bennerley Viaduct, who successfully applied for a grant to help with equipment for volunteers carrying out conservation and improvement work at the site.
The council helps a wide range of community organisations and local groups through its grants schemes, with nearly £82,000 shared between 76 worthy causes this financial year.
Councillor Gerri Hickton, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Community Engagement, says:
“It is fantastic to see how money from the Community Grants Scheme goes towards helping worthwhile recipients. The Friends of Bennerley Viaduct do a sterling job of maintaining one of the borough’s historical landmarks, and it is great to know that we as a council can contribute towards helping them.”
