Erewash Borough Council offers a helping hand to residents who struggle to put out their refuse and recycling for collection.
The Assisted Refuse Collection Service is aimed at assisting any resident who is permanently unable to present their wheeled bins and/or green recycling bags for collection due to ill health, incapacity or disability and have no-one living with them who is able to do it for them.
If eligible for the scheme, the refuse and recycling crews will collect the bins/green bags and return them to their storage point.
A temporary service can be provided for those who need short term assistance due to an accident, illness or pregnancy and who do not have a partner or relative who can help them.
Councillor Garry Hickton, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Environment, says:
“Our Assisted Bin Collection scheme is an excellent ‘helping hand’ service, so get in touch with us if you are unable to put out your bin and have no-one to do it for you.”
Anyone who would like to discuss the service can call the council’s customer service advisors on 0115 907 2244 who will be happy to help. Visit www.erewash.gov.uk for more details.
