British Masters Athletics Cross Country Team Relay Race

Saturday, October 26, 2019 8:00 - 17:00
This event does not repeat

The British Masters Athletics Federation (BMAF) Cross Country team relay race will take place in West Park, Long Eaton.

The event address is the leisure centre, Wilsthorpe Rd, NG10 4AA.  The course is a 3k lap for each runner, with teams of 3,4 or 5, depending upon gender and/or age group.  There are two races, starting at 12.15 & 13.45, each lasting for about an hour.

There will be top class masters runners of both genders from all over the UK, representing their clubs.  Masters athletes are aged 35 and over only.  The standard is high and the competition will be serious, but with all masters events there is something for everyone, regardless of ability and no upper age limit, as long as there are enough for a team of course.

There will be men's and women's Long Eaton Running Club teams competing

The event offers free sports viewing for local residents and park users. The course and race progress can be viewed from many vantage points around the course, and also from the central tarmac road if accessibility is an issue.  It would be nice to feel that the benefit was felt by more than just the competitors and Long Eaton RC.

It is the fifth time that Long Eaton Running Club has been asked to host the race by BMAF, and we hope that it will be a regular event for the foreseeable future.

The event is supported by Long Eaton Rugby Football Club, and their cafe will be open to the public for refreshments throughout. There will also be a mobile hot snacks venue near the start/finish area.

There will be a market stall operated by The Derby Runner, where the latest running equipment will be on show, and for sale.
