Hypnotism

If you wish to show, demonstrate or perform a hypnotism act in public, you must have authorisation from the council.

Licence Summary

Anyone giving an exhibition, demonstration or performance of Hypnotism on any person or in connection with entertainment to which the public are admitted whether by payment or otherwise is required to obtain authorisation from the Council by way of consent. A separate application must be made by the person who will be carrying out the act of Hypnotism in relation to each premises/venue intended to be used.

Permission from the owner of the premises where the activity will take place is not required as part of the application process.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must not have previously been refused a consent or convicted of any offence under the Hypnotism Act 1952. Applicants must have the appropriate public liability insurance in place for proposed events.

Fees and Charges

There are no fees currently payable for hypnotism authorisations.

Will Tacit Consent Apply?

Yes. This means that you will be able to act as though your application is granted if you have not heard from the local authority by the end of the target completion period
