Online Payments

You are now able to pay a Council Tax Bill, a Business Rates Bill (Non-Domestic Rates), a Sundry Debtor Invoice, a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) and make other payments online using a debit or credit card.

Simply visit our secure online payment portal, where you will be taken through a five stage process during which you will need to enter the details of the bill you want to pay and then the details of your debit card.

The following options are available on Capita Online Payments.

Sundry Debtors/Invoices and Building Control Payments

You will need the invoice number from your invoice in the 'Reference Number' box on the payments page. This is an eight digit number beginning with with an '8' for overpayment of Housing Benefit or a seven digit number beginning with a '3', '5' or '6' (including Building Control Invoices) for Sundry Debts.  The automated service may ask you for a "seven digit account number" but this will be the invoice number.

Council Tax

You will need to enter the account reference number from your Council Tax bill in the 'Reference Number' box on the payments page (this is a ten digit number beginning with '2').

Business Rates (Non-Domestic Rates)

You will need the account reference number from your Business Rates bill in the 'Reference Number' box on the payments page (this is a ten digit number beginning with '9').

Other Payments

This option should only be chosen where you are making a payment for a service where a bill or invoice has not been issued; for example, where you are making a payment as part of an application for a licence or a car-park season ticket. You will need to select which service and which specific item within that service you are paying for.

Note: When making a payment online, please be aware that it can take up to three working days for your payment to reach us.

Alternatively, you can make a payment by debit or credit card over the telephone on our Card Payment Line on 0115 907 2222.  The automated service may ask you for a "seven digit account number" if you are paying a sundry invoice/debt but this will be the invoice number.
