Erewash Borough Council has topped the table with a 97% compliance rate in the Which? report for food hygiene standards.
There are over 950 registered food premises in Erewash, ranging from small corner shops to large food manufacturers and council officers work hard to ensure the fair and proportionate information, advice and assessment of all food premises they visit.
Food safety inspections are carried out in line with the Food Standards Agency (FSA) Food Law Code of Practice to calculate the hygiene rating which is published on the FSA website. Council officers identify what follow-up action is needed for businesses that are not compliant with the legislation and provide advice and support to improve standards as well as offering low cost food hygiene training.
Elizabeth Street, Erewash Borough Council’s Environmental Health Manager, says:
“The council’s Food, Health and Safety Team work with others in maintaining and improving food safety and health and safety standards for the residents of Erewash and we are delighted to have topped the table of highest ranking local authority areas as reported in Which?”
