Changes to Council Tax: Tell us what you think!
The Coalition Government is changing the national Council Tax Benefit Scheme; cutting the amount they pay local authorities by 10%, an estimated £850,000 shortfall for Erewash.
A new local scheme called Council Tax Support will replace the Council Tax Benefit Scheme from April 2013, with people over pension age protected from the changes under the new scheme.
We want to hear what you think about these changes and are running a comprehensive programme of consultations, including drop-in events in your local area.
You can take part in our online consultation or visit Ilkeston or Long Eaton Town Hall reception areas where you can complete a paper copy of the consultation. Alternatively, you can request a printed copy to be posted with a prepaid envelope by calling 0115 9071010.
The Council Tax Support consultation is open for a period of eight weeks, closing on Friday 2nd November. You can find out further information on the Council Tax Support consultation and view a list of frequently asked questions via the links and attachments below.
