...driving for success
There will be major changes to traffic movement on the M1 as part of the widening scheme. These changes will potentially affect thousands of travellers per day.
From Sunday 27 January 2008, there will be a 50 MPH limit on the Southbound M1 from Junction 27 (Annesley) to Junction 26 (Nuthall). Traffic will be confined to three narrow lanes with no hard shoulder.
Similar restrictions will be imposed on the Northbound M1 between Junction 26 and Junction 27 from February 16, and will remain on both carriageways until autumn 2008.
A free recovery service was introduced on the 23 January which covers both carriageways between Junction 25 (Sandiacre) to Junction 28 (Pinxton). The recovery service is controlled from 24 hour CCTV which is installed in 64 locations along both carriageways.
