Churches Unite for Clean Up!
Local church-goers put their faith in litter pickers and bin bags this month . . . when they turned out in force to help clean up Cotmanhay.
Churches Together in Derbyshire members joined forces with the Pride in Erewash Campaign to stage the clean-up event on the Linear Walkway between 10am and 12noon on Saturday 26th July.
The church members, from Christian churches across the area, tackled the litter and bagged up the rubbish to help transform the site for the local community – and were joined on the day by local police officers and a Cotmanhay Neighbourhood Management Group Ranger.
Erewash Borough Council’s Pride in Erewash campaign is a go-ahead initiative which aims to get the community working together and taking pride in the borough.
Councillor Robert Parkinson, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for the Environment, said: “I am sure the residents of Cotmanhay are grateful for the work put in to ensure the area is a nicer place for everyone and I applaud the Churches Together in Derbyshire members for getting involved in this clean-up.
“I am pleased the Council was able to support this Litter Pick through our Pride in Erewash campaign. It shows that by working together we can make a difference.”
