Erewash is Healthy and Happy!
Erewash is set to launch its Health and Wellbeing Week for the third year running to encourage residents and visitors to the borough to commit to a healthier lifestyle.
Originally started in 2005, Erewash Health & Wellbeing week is designed to inspire people to become more active, eat healthily or even quit smoking. This year’s week-long event will be held from Monday 19 May to Sunday 25 May.
Delivered as part of the Active Erewash scheme, and sponsored by the successful community focussed campaign, Pride in Erewash, the week has grown in popularity over the past three years.
Each year the event focuses around a particular target group of residents, and activities are made readily available to help this group become more fit and healthy. In 2008 we will be focussing on supporting people with disabilities.
Various organisations will be putting on activities for people with disabilities and their carers to give them the chance to have a go, learn new skills and find out more about services on offer to them. From all council leisure centres to the Long Eaton Art Room, there will be a range of opportunities from gym inductions, swimming and sports to creative activities such as origami, quilling and rag rolling. All activities will be free of charge and accessible to those with disabilities.
Our Sport and Health Development team have been working hard to coordinate activities throughout the week. Details of all the activities on offer can be found on our website Culture and Leisure pages or by calling the Sports Development Team on 0845 907 22 44. Leaflets are also available in all council leisure centres and both Long Eaton and Ilkeston town halls.
Please note: Erewash Borough Council wishes to make it clear that it’s role in the initiative is as co-ordinator only and as such it is acting in a neutral capacity and its involvement shall not be taken to imply support either financial or otherwise of the participating businesses nor shall it be taken to imply any warranty as to fit for purpose or otherwise of goods offered for sale by participating businesses"
