Refubishment of pool changing facilities at West Park Leisure Centre

Erewash Borough Council announced a major refurbishment project for the pool changing facilites earlier this year after successfully winning a £414,000 cash windfall from Sport England.

The project has been given a £101,000 ‘top-up’ by the Council to bring the total investment to £557,000.

The makeover is the latest investment by the Council to maintain and boost facilities for West Park’s customers and will mean the centre has seen over £1m of improvements over the last year.

The whole makeover is expected to be complete by the beginning of April and works are currently all on schedule.

The refurbishment will improve the experience for visitors to West Park and will greatly improve accessibility for disabled people, older people and families with young children.

Erewash Borough Council was able to make a funding bid to Sport England for a pool improvement project after it signed up for the national Free Swimming Initiative for those aged 16 and under or 60 and over.

Temporary changing facilities are available: Female changing is currently in the sauna area and male changing is in temporary accommodation.
