However, the Council still retains its enabling role to ensure the housing needs of the Borough’s residents are met, this includes responsibility for:

• Determination of Housing Need
• Development and Implementation of Housing Policies and Strategies
• Housing Advice and Homelessness
• Supporting service providers to ensure they have enough resources to help meet housing needs

In addition, the Housing Section is responsible for Private Sector Housing and the Home Energy Advice Service. This involves the provision of advice, information and enforcement on most private sector housing standard issues including landlord and tenant issues, houses in multiple occupation, caravan sites, housing grants and home energy efficiency advice.
