Flood recovery at communities and Local Government

Please see attached a letter from Teresa Vokes, Director responsible for Flood Recovery at Communities and Local Government and an information note on where flood affected households intending to claim on their insurance can go for free and independent advice.

This note has been drafted in consultation with the Financial Services Authority and the Association of British Insurers.

Flood warning information

A document entitled ‘Flooding – Public Information and Advice’ can be found on the "Derbyshire Prepared" website (see link at bottom of this page). This document contains sources of advice and information for members of the public and businesses on flooding related issues, from a range of organisations and agencies.

The Environment Agency manage the free flood warning service. To find out more about flooding and the flood warning service please visit the Environment Agency website (opens in a new window) which contains:

  • flood warning codes
  • where warnings are issued
  • how to use the Floodline number
  • how to register for the Floodline service
  • where to purchase flood protection equipment 
  • other useful contact details
