...driving for success
Fire cover for the county is provided by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service (opens in a new window) which is governed by Derbyshire Fire Authority.
This authority consists of 20 councillors, 15 from Derbyshire County Council and five from Derby City Council.
The Fire Authority is a separate entity and is responsible for setting the level of revenue funding and the costs incurred in running a 'front line service'. It operates within a legal framework which is heavily influenced by Central Government.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service has 11 full time and 20 retained fire stations.
