Country Walks

We greatly value the network of public paths and bridleways as an important leisure resource, and through our Footpath and Bridleway Initiative are undertaking the improvement, waymarking and promotion of these rights of way.

Walking for health groups

There are several Walking for Health groups that meet within the borough. These groups provide an ideal opportunity for you to improve your health.

Erewash Valley Trail

The Erewash Valley Trail (opens in a new window) takes in over 30 miles of beautiful waterway and countryside landscape on the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire borders. The route is available for walking and cycling and offers good access to the fantastic wildlife and heritage features which make this area so interesting.

Nutbrook Trail

A 10 mile traffic free path between Long Eaton, Shipley Country Park and Heanor. (opens in a new window)
