Fairs

We host two regular fairs within the borough - Ilkeston Charter Fair and Chestnut Fair.
Fair

Ilkeston Charter Fair

The traditional Ilkeston Charter fair takes place every October and is one of the oldest and largest street fairs in Europe.

For virtually an entire week, Ilkeston Town Centre is transformed into a vast fairground filled with colour, lights and action for this popular event, appealing to both young and old.

The fair presents an opportunity for thousands of visitors to enjoy the exciting and spectacular white-knuckle rides together with the more traditional side-shows.

The fair has a rich history spanning over 700 years dating back to the original Charter granted by King Henry III in 1252.

Chestnut Fair

The Chestnut Fair, presented by James Mellors Amusements Ltd, is held in the Waverley Street area of Long Eaton in mid-November each year. The fair includes rides for all the family, white knuckle along with children's rides.
