How to pay your Council Tax

Bills are issued at the start of each financial year.

Direct Debit

Direct Debit is an easy and effective way for you to manage your payments. This can be organised quickly and simply over the phone on 0115 907 2244. Alternatively you can complete the Direct Debit mandate form and post this to us.

Standing Order

If you wish to arrange your own Standing Order please contact your bank. You must supply your reference number and the following details:

Sort code: 08-90-05

Bank Account number: 61050015.

Post Office

All Post Offices will accept payment through their Giro transfer systems, although they may charge for this service. Please take your bill with you and ensure that you write your reference number on the payment slip. The Council cannot allocate payment to your account if you fail to do this

To pay at a Post Office, you will need the Council's Girobank account number which is 408 7178.

You can pay at any Post Office without charge if you have one of the Council's plastic payment cards. Please enquire about this scheme by telephoning 0115 907 22 44.

Debit or Credit Card by Telephone

You can pay by phone on our automated Freephone Card Payment Line: 0800 783 9020. This service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Over the Counter (by cash, cheque, debit or credit card)

The Council has two payment counters, one at the Town Hall, Ilkeston, and one at the Town Hall, Long Eaton.

Bring your bill along with your payment and it will be receipted.

Office hours are 8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 4.30pm on Fridays.

By Post

Please send only cheques and postal orders (made payable to Erewash Borough Council) to Resources Department, Finance Division, PO Box 2, Town Hall, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, DE7 5SE. Please write your reference number on the reverse of the cheque. Post dated cheques will not be accepted. If you require a receipt you must send your bill with your payment.
