...driving for success
The service, which is run by us, is open to anyone with a disability problem whether it is temporary or permanent.
Self propelled or battery operated wheelchair and scooters are available to loan. This is a tremendous advantage for those visiting Ilkeston town centre which is situated on a steep slope.
To become a member, customers fill out an application form and are then issued with a card which they present each time they wish to use the service.
Both schemes now have hundreds of members. The Ilkeston service is located at the east side of High Street close to Erewash Museum and has a car park for members.
Long Eaton Shopmobility is also situated centrally at New Street.
Step 1
Download and complete the Customer Registration Form (available below). If you need help completing the form just contact one of our centres. Alternatively just call in at one of our centres and fill in the form there.
Step 2
Take the completed form along to one of our Shopmobility Centres in Ilkeston or Long Eaton, along with proof of your identity confirming your name and address (driving licence, pension book, utilities bill etc.)
Step 3
Arrange for our Shopmobility Co-ordinators to assess your mobility needs and give you a short but thorough instruction session in the use of our mobility vehicles.
Step 4
Confirm you are aware of the terms and conditions of the vehicle loan by signing the Shopmobility Coordinators assessment sheet….and off you go, you are now free to explore the town centres at your own pace.
….and remember, registration with Shopmobility doesn't just entitle you to use our power wheelchairs and scooters. We have a number of manual wheelchairs which you can loan; handy for when you are visiting the town with family or friends.
Why struggle getting your own chair into town when you can park up at Shopmobility and use one of ours? Shopmobility is also a great way to get out and about and meet people.
