Neutering and Spaying

Low cost neutering/spaying scheme for dogs.

Each year thousands of dogs are allowed to roam the streets, die in road accidents or are put down as a result of an unwanted litter. We appreciate that this problem is not specific to dogs and therefore we would ask you to consider having your pet neutered. Having your pet neutered is a simple process which, apart from helping with unwanted litters, could help with behavioural problems and save you money.

To try and reduce the number of unwanted pets, we are offering in conjunction with participating local veterinary practices (see below for copy of the leaflet) financial assistance if you are:

A resident of Erewash and in receipt of any of the following means tested benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Income Based JSA
  • Council Tax Benefit
  • Working Tax Credit
  • Housing Benefit
  • Disabled Persons Tax Credit.

We will issue a voucher towards the cost of the operation to the value of:

  • Bitch Spay £41.50
  • Dog Neuter £26.20

To apply for the scheme download the leaflet/application form from the related documents section.

You must then take the completed application form with proof of receipt of benefit and another means of identification to either:

  • Town Hall, Long Eaton
  • Town Hall, Ilkeston

Applications cannot be accepted by post.

Please note that you are advised to check with your chosen veterinary practice that your dog will be accepted for the operation.
