Erewash Borough Council is a member of the Erewash Local Strategic Partnership which is made up of local businesses and organisations.
What is a Local Strategic Partnership?
Communities, Local and Central Government believe positive things happen which benefit local communities if people and organisations work together to deliver common goals.
Pooling the combined experiences and expertise and working in partnership, local LSP’s can understand in greater depth, local people, local needs and local issues.
Together they can ensure the right actions are taken and the right services are delivered at a local level.
It’s known as a Local Strategic Partnership (LSP), a single body that:
- Brings together at a local level the different parts of the public sector as well as the private, business, community and voluntary sectors so that different initiatives and services support each other and work together
- Is a non-statutory partnership
- Provides a single overarching local co-ordination framework within which other partnerships can operate
- Is responsible for developing and driving the implementation of a Sustainable Community Strategy [PDF 1580KB].
LSP's will become more and more important as they drive forward the local Sustainable Community Strategy for a brighter future.
LSP's are seen by Government as key bodies in achieving the aims set out in "A New Commitment to Neighbourhood Renewal" a document published in 2001 as part of the modernising government agenda. This has been further developed in the 2006 Local Government White Paper and Bill.
