We are primarily responsible for:
We procure all tendering and management of any contracts associated with the delivery of the maintenance programme.
Street furniture includes cast iron litter bins, seats, benches, ornate lighting columns, bollards and planters and is generally maroon in colour.
Maintenance works generally include the repair of the block paving to prevent health and safety risks from uneven surfaces and repair / replacement of damaged street furniture and the cleansing of the drainage channels.
We are not the budget holders but procure all tendering and management of any contracts associated with the maintenance, repair and replacement of the car park surfaces, surface water drainage and associated car park furniture on behalf of the Neighbourhood Services Directorate.
Car Park furniture includes litter bins, floodlighting, signs posts/signs and cycle/motor cycle racks.
Maintenance works generally include repairs to the tarmac surfaces, white/yellow lining replacement and cleansing of the gullies/drainage channels.
We are not the budget holders but procure all tendering and management of any contracts associated with the maintenance of the footpaths crossing Council owned open spaces and cemeteries on behalf of the Neighbourhood Services Directorate.
We are the budget holders for the boroughs annual Christmas lighting displays and coordinates the testing, installation, maintenance and removal of the decorations as well as procurement and installation of the Christmas trees. Annual coordination begins in early spring to ensure that all details and contractual agreements are finalised in time for the festive season.
The team are responsible for the tendering and management of any contracts associated with the Christmas lighting schemes.
We also assist Risley Parish Council and Dale Abbey Parish Council with the installation and maintenance of their festive decorations.
The festive displays at Ilkeston and Long Eaton are officially commenced with a “switch on” ceremony. These ceremonies include street entertainment and a festive market. These events are well attended by members of the public.
We have carried out the first phase of the Play Area Refurbishment Programme on behalf of the Neighbourhood Services Directorate.
We have procured all tendering and management of the contract for the construction of the works which dealt mainly with improvements associated with complying with Disabled Discrimination Act 1995.
These improvements included the construction of tarmac footpaths to access the play areas and ROSPA approved perimeter fencing / gates to the play areas.
The locations undertaken were:
Phase two of the Play Area Refurbishments is programmed to continue through out 2008.
We have made provision for significant improvements to the main car park.
We will be involved in the detailed design and procured of all tendering and management of the contract for the construction of the works on behalf of Culture and Leisure Services Directorate.
The works will include improvements to floodlighting and surface water drainage together with resurfacing and marking out of the entire car park.
