...driving for success
Erewash Borough Council is conducting a review of Community Governance arrangements for the unparished areas of Ilkeston and Long Eaton. This involves asking residents whether a Town or Parish Council is required for Ilkeston and/or Long Eaton. Public consultation on the options available will take place from 1 February to 31 March 2010.
Public meetings will be held on Saturday 13th February 2010 at the Town Hall, Ilkeston from 10 am until 11 am and at the Town Hall, Long Eaton from 12 noon until 1 pm. Electors in the areas will receive a questionnaire in early February and local organisations are encouraged to respond to the review.
Following the first stage of consultation the Council will form a draft recommendation. A second stage of consultation will then take place in the autumn to seek views on the final draft proposal before the final decision is made.
Any new arrangements would take effect from May 2011 when elections to any new Town or Parish Councils created would take place.
