A wide variety of activities take place at West Park Leisure Centre, including: swimming, badminton, netball, football, squash, aerobics, martial arts, and much more.

Just for Kids

Fun Tots
Wednesday & Thursday (Derbyshire term time only), 10am – 11.30am, £3
This is a pre-school activity session designed to develop balance, co-ordination and social skills. All children must be supervised at all times by parents/carers. If you have more than one child it is advisable to bring a friend or relative.  Age 0 (toddling) - 5th birthday.

Soccer Stars
Indoor football coaching courses for girls and boys from 5 years – 11 years. Courses consist of a 1 hour session, once a week for 10 weeks. £30 per course

Beginner/Intermediate – Includes basic skills and match protocol
Thursday, 4.30pm – 5.30pm & 5.30pm - 6.30pm
Friday, 5pm – 6pm

Intermediate/Advanced – Teaches specific skills, techniques and rules and regulations
Friday, 4pm – 5pm

Soccer Skills
Suitable for 2.5 - 5 years.  This is a 10 week course aimed at developing motor skills and basic football skills.  This course must be pre-booked at the centre.
Wednesday, 3.30pm - 4.15pm & 4.30 - 5.15pm £30 per course.

Trampolining
Saturday, 9am – 2pm
Sunday, 3pm – 6pm
Courses are for girls and boys from 5 years – 16 years. Courses consist of 1 hour sessions, once a week for 10 weeks. The course starts off by teaching basic skills, and then progresses to routines and more advanced moves. £30 per course.

M.A.C.C.A
Mission: Active Children, Creative Adventure
During the Derbyshire school holidays we provide a variety of activities for children between the ages of 5 - 14 yrs. Activities will include: arts & crafts, sports, games and dance sessions. For further information or to book onto the activity days please contact the centre directly.

Crèche
The crèche is available for children aged 6 weeks until their 5th birthday. The centre’s crèche offers modern care provision of the highest standard in a safe, homely and secure environment, allowing you to participate in activities with your mind at ease. £2.40 per child.

Children's Parties

Why not let us take the stress out of organising your children’s birthday party. We offer four fun and exciting party themes for you to choose from:

Adventure
For children aged 2 - 8 years.
Includes soft play with bouncy castle, climbing frames with slides, hoops and soft shapes.

Sporting Adventures
For children aged 5+
Includes basketball, unihoc, football and netball. We provide all the equipment.

Swimming
For children aged 5+
Hire the pool exclusively on a Saturday evening. Normal pool regulations apply during all parties.

Happy Hour
For children aged 5+
Hire one of our function rooms for 2 hours. Either bring your own disco/entertainer or use the centre’s CD player.

All parties last 2 hours – 1 hour activity and 1 hour for party food. Flumes are included with any main pool party. All relevant equipment is provided. It is the responsibility of the hirers to provide adequate supervision by parents and helpers at all parties. A deposit of £20 is required to secure your booking.  Bookings are taken up to 3 months in advance.

Workout Class Descriptions

Aqua Aerobics
The ultimate water workout. Water adds resistance to exercise but also helps support the body. This kind of workout is good for people with joint problems.

Aqua Natal
A gentle keep fit session in the water for mums to be. This session is delivered by a qualified midwife.

Boxercise
This fitness class incorporates a number of boxing moves and techniques to music. It focuses on upper body conditioning, working the arms, abs, chest and shoulders. It also includes some lower body exercises and increases your fitness levels.

Circuit Training
Generally for those people with a high degree of fitness. All forms of fitness combined with equipment to make a class with a difference.

Fit Spin & Tone
Part of this session involves an aerobic workout on static exercise bikes; the rest of the class concentrates on weights and toning.

Pilates
A class for strength building to give you longer and leaner muscles, creating good core stability and helping to maintain the body's correct posture.

Spin Bike
An aerobic workout to music on a static adapted exercise bike. Improves circulation, burns fat, tones muscle and exercises the heart.

Stability Balls
Tone your body using a combination of aerobic moves and exercise using stability balls for control and balance.

Triple Challenge
3 different kinds of exercise class rolled into 1.  Exercises will include a combination of 3 of the following: aerobics, circuit, tone or boxercise.

Toning
Floor work classes to shape and tone all major muscle groups. Designed to sculpt the body and flatten the stomach.

Yoga
A set of physical and mental exercises, which is intended to give control over the body and mind.

Level Guide

Level 1 – Suitable for a beginner who has never attended an aerobic class before or who has not exercised for a long time.
Level 2 – Suitable for a higher level of beginner who has attended aerobics before and feels level 1 is too easy.
Level 3 – Suitable for those who are at ease with fitness classes and of an average fitness level.
Level 4 – Suitable for those with a high level of fitness.

If you are unsure about your ability to exercise please consult your doctor before you attend classes. Please arrive 5 minutes before class commences. If you arrive in the middle or at the end of a warm up, the instructor reserves the right to refuse you participation in the class.

The main sports hall is available to hire for: badminton, table tennis, 5-a-side football and a variety of other sports.  Please contact the centre for bookings or further information.

Ladies Fit & Fun

The Ladies Fit & Fun sessions are available on Monday and Thursday mornings, and Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. All of the activities listed in one of the morning or afternoon sessions are included in one price - £3.60. 

Monday Morning
High Energy Aerobics, 9.30am – 10.15am
For energetic ladies with an average to good fitness level

Body Sculpture, 10.20am – 11am
A toning class to shape and stretch all the muscle groups

Low Impact Aerobics, 9.35am – 10.15am
A basic, easy to follow class designed for beginners

Tums, Bums & Thighs, 10.20am – 11am
A toning class aimed at hitting this problem area

Multi Spin, 11am – 11.30am
A combined fitness level class that is fat and calorie burning but not weight bearing

Fitness Suite, 9am – 12.30pm (10.30am Inductions)
New customer inductions are required before using the gym. These can be booked at the gym reception.

Sauna/Steam, 9am - 10am Mixed, 10am – 12.30pm Women only
A place to relax before returning to the hustle & bustle of life

Swimming, 12pm – 12.30pm
During casual swim time

A coached session for all ability levels.

A place to relax before turning to the hustle & bustle of life. This is a mixed session.
