The Action We Aim To Take
In meeting our responsibilities and duties as a local authority we plan to:
- consider the equality implications in all policy decisions and service planning processes.
- develop and include equality measures in committee service plans and performance reports.
- review and monitor recruitment, training and employment policy and practice.
- work towards achieving the Commission for Racial Equality's "Racial Equality Means Quality" Standards, and apply the principles and practice across all areas of equality.
- issue specific guidance notes on the practical implementation of the policy, as required.
- ensure that in implementing 'Best Value' we demonstrate high quality, effective services that match community aspirations and needs, developing appropriate ways of communicating and consulting with local communities.
All employees and elected Members have a responsibility to actively promote equality of opportunity and tackle disadvantage and discrimination.
The Chief Executive has the primary responsibility, on behalf of the Council, for ensuring that the policy is promoted and implemented across all service areas.
